Biri Dali/ Dal is one of the chappan bhog receipe of Lord Jagannth. Everyday there has to be one plain dal receipe in the Abhada bhog prepared for the Lord. I have already posted Muga dali, Ahar dal receipe. This is the dal prepared from Urad dal.

Ingredients:

Soaked whole or split urad dal

Turmeric

Salt

Crushed/ powdered whole pepper

Panch Phutana ( musturd, fennel, cumin, methi)

Shredded ginger

Ghee/ oil

Ingredients.
Pressure cook soaked urad dal till soft with turmeric and salt.
Once the dal is done mash it well.
Finally add seasoning of Panch Phutana and shredded ginger, also add pepper powder.
Add some more water and bring it to boil for 2-3 min.
Biri Dali/ dal is ready for bhog.

Notes:

Instead of pepper powder you can add whole red chilli in the seasoning.

You can either use whole urad or broken.
